HOWE GREEN GETS A RESULT AT COVENTRY CITY FC

Howe Green’s 7500 Series aluminium access covers are proving crucial to Coventry City Football Club’s award-winning stadium – enabling vital access to underfloor services at the sports and leisure complex.

Since opening for business in the summer of 2005, the £113 million development has proved a huge success attracting more than 1 million visitors in the first 12 months. The stadium forms an important part of the city council's bigger plan to rejuvenate the entire area.

Built by Laing O'Rourke, Ricoh Arena is set within more than 40 acres and is unlike any other development of its kind in the UK. With state-of-the-art conference, banqueting, exhibition, hotel and sports facilities, the multi-purpose complex has already won awards such as the Best UK Venue 2006 by the International Confex Awards and Best New Venture at the Godiva Awards.

A floor access solution was required at Ricoh Arena to reach under floor services carrying water, drainage, electricity and data to internal and external leisure amenities. In parti cular, operatives need to carry out regular checks on under soil heating, sprinkler systems and floodlighting. Howe Green’s 7500 Series covers were the natural choice.

Aesthetically pleasing, the covers have slim line aluminium showedges that blend effortlessly with floor coverings, including Terrazzo, used throughout the stadium complex. Sitting perfectly flush with their surround, the covers avoid distortion and prevent any slips or trips.

Using Howe Green’s patented system the covers were manufactured to a range of different sizes and dimensions at no extra cost. As a result, ‘behind the scenes’ operations at Coventry City Football Club’s impressive stadium now run as smoothly as the players on the pitch.
