COVERS MAKE TRACKS

Covers make tracks

Stainless-steel floor access covers, manufactured by Howe Green, have been fitted throughout St Pancras Interim Station. The new work is part of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Project scheduled to be in full operation by 2007.

The high performance covers were specified to provide easy access to railway communication and other concealed services and to be totally resistant to the exposed weather conditions and their heavy traffic situation. All that can be seen are stainless steel showedges which form a crisp outline on the platforms. Due to their location, it was essential that the covers fit perfectly flush with their surround in order to avoid any slips or trips from the thousands of daily passengers.
