Modern buildings incorporate services which are much more complex than ever before. The configuration of those services is also likely to require attention more often to respond to changing needs and rapid developments in information technology. How that requirement is met is an important challenge to the designer. The new tutorial building on the University of Wolverhampton Telford campus is a good example. Here continuous ducts have been incorporated into the terrazzo floor of the foyer to carry the electrical services. By using Howe Green covers, the Bond Bryan Partnership architects have solved the problem of providing access which is easy to open and, being completely flush with the floor, eliminates any possibility of tripping. Howe Green access covers can be used with any type of hard flooring or flexible floorcovering. They are purpose made in single units or continuous runs to fit any module or opening. Covers are maintenance free and will resist dirt, water and corrosion.
