ACCESS COVERS TO THE RESCUE

Access covers to the rescue

45 Visedge floor access covers have helped to overcome a major problem beneath the Kemp Welch Leisure Centre at Poole in Dorset. This local authority leisure centre offers a wide range of gymnastic, swimming, leisure and meeting facilities. Shortly after its construction, about three years ago, it was discovered that water had flooded the underfloor service ducts causing damage to pipework and insulation. Chartered building surveyors Barrie Vincent & Partners with building services engineers Mabey Francis & Partners were appointed to redesign and correct the problem. Because of the limited access to the ducts, it was decided to increase the number of access points. At the same time, the architects took the opportunity to replace existing internal manholes which were badly constructed and, being proud of the floor surface, represented a trip hazard. Their solution was to use 45 Visedge access covers specially manufactured by Howe Green Ltd. The covers are situated throughout the corridors and plant room to provide easy access and an inconspicuous and level surface in the carpeted floors. Howe Green access access covers can be used with any type of hard flooring or flexible floorcovering. Covers, purpose made to fit any module or opening, are maintenance free, easy to open and double sealed to resist ingress of dirt or cleaning liquids. Showedges can be aluminium, brass or high impact pvc in various colours.
